Bridget Bearss is a Religious of the Sacred Heart serving the United States-Canada Province of the Society of the Sacred Heart at the Stuart Center in Washington, DC.  For more than 40 years, the Stuart Center has engaged in social justice, education, empowerment and partnership, making visible the mission of the Society of the Sacred Heart.  

 

Bridget's passions integrate innovation in education, ways to invite dialogue in circles of shared wisdom, and a deep commitment to the work of anti-racism -- all grounded in the wisdom of 12 step spirituality.  Through art, music, poetry and the journey of life, she shares the 'experience, strength and hope' she has found on the journey to freedom.

 

An educator of the heart, leader of the spirit and graphing scribe in training, Bridget Bearss brings a unique blend of life-long learner and one who has walked the 12 step journey for more than 20 years.  

 

This workshop will invite participants into the HOW (Honest, Open-Minded and Willing) of living the change that surrounds us, inviting us into the emerging future.

Barbara McVeigh is a married laywoman, mother and grandmother.  She has been involved in the ministry of spiritual direction for thirty years.  She was on staff as a spiritual director at the Jesuit Center of Spirituality in Halifax until it closed in 2015.  She was then invited to exercise her ministry at the Barat Spirituality Centre where she continues her service.  Barbara enjoys gardening, sailing, and being in nature in her spare time.

 

Sr. Anne-Marie Conn resides at Barat Residence where we have now established a small spirituality centre.  There, she collaborates with others around the work of Spiritual programming and Accompaniment in which she has been engaged since 1991 in a variety of settings.  She’s also an avid gardener and enjoys oil painting.

 

Sr. Donna Dolan is currently a board member at Sacred Heart School of Halifax.  Her background includes nursing, teaching, spiritual direction, and programs at  the Barat Spirituality Centre in Halifax.  She is a certified grief counselor.  As well, she counsels those bereaved following a death by suicide.   She is a member of the Contemporary Art Society and In her spare time  enjoys watercolour painting and participating in art shows.

Dr. Beverly Musgrave studied Spiritual Direction and Ignatian Spirituality, at Guelph, Ontario and has been practicing Spiritual Direction for thirty years. 

She taught at Fordham University in New York City; had a Private Practice in Pastoral Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy; Dr. Musgrave also developed a program called Partners in  Healing, that worked with and trained people to minister to the sick. She is the Co-editor of two books and has published a number of professional articles. Presently, she lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
